Vee's Placemats

Vee emailed these photos a week or so ago and any finish is worth celebrating.

Vee has finished her placemats and posted them off to their lucky owner.

Vee has not been sewing long as one of her first projects she decided to make these quite difficult placemats for a friend or may be a relative, I'm not sure now.

The main thing is she had finished them.  Well done Vee!  Lovely colours.

The placemats were done in a diamond shape.

One UFO crossed off

Work Shop Weekend

What a great weekend. Our workshop with Julie Latcham was very creative and a lot of fun.  Julie is from Cow Paddocks Patchwork. See the blog before for links and more details.

We had 17 ladies over the weekend for the workshop ...It was a good number. Lots of laughs and it was just fun to spend the day with a group of like minded ladies doing something we all enjoy. .... patchwork.

Thanks to Gail Clark for organising the weekend. Thanks to Vee for making salad and to anyone who cooked or prepared food for us to share. The florentine slice was so scrumptious...mmmm .

Thanks to Julie for travelling and RADF for the funding.

Almost everyone got their quilt centre sorted. There we so many different appliqué designs.  It always astounds me how one pattern or design can change so much through colour or a little creative licence. Hope to see Jan, Peg and Robyn back next year.

On Saturday night we all got together for our Christmas party at The Victoria Hotel.

After some consultation and deliberation and a bit of working out we have decided to put the Julie Latcham workshop on the 16th and 17th November.  A few of us couldn't attend on the original date so Gail very kindly reorganised things and thanks to those ladies who didn't mind changing.

This is our major workshop for the year where we have a guest tutor so its best we have as many attend as possible.  The saturday night ( 16th)  will also be our Christmas Party. We will go to the Victoria Hotel for dinner together.

This workshop is fully funded by the Regional Arts Development Fund  (RADF ) .  We have to hold a display of the work when its completed. The workshop will cost $ 20 per day.
This is to cover hall hire and the majority of the lunch and we will have  to bring some salad and morning and afternoon tea as normal.

It is at the Golden Age Centre   8.00am till 4.00pm Saturday  and 8.00 to 3.00pm Sunday.  Julie will take 20 in the workshop so if you haven't signed up please do it  ASAP to ensure a place. It will be advertised in the argus next week.

We want you to know  that you dont have to make a quilt. You can make smaller items to learn the technique. ( Wall hanging, table runner, placemats etc, A  24 " cushion you can also come along and work down the end of the hall doing your own sewing while watching the quilt being  created. There is a lot of flexibility here. Your appliqué can be of your own choice. Colours and design can be the same of any you want to do yourself. The pictures below show some quilts being made the Moonie Fine Arts group.
